“The sound of silence surprises the ear”

Edgar Allan POE, - Al Aaraaf.

What do we hear by "silence" ?!.

an absence of sound

.../...

an emptiness

.../...

a lack

.../...

a hole ?

.../...

Or rather

.../...

a pause

.../...

a respiration

.../...

a space

.../...

an opening.

.../...

.../...

The negative description suggests absence

.../...

while the positive is an opening towards presence…

These 6 sound interstices, where sound, noise and silence meet, challenge our perceptions, our representations and our projections of the subject...

The expression of various themes linked to sound, to noise and to silence, suggest that under the acoustic earmuffs, the notion of SOUND ECOLOGY emerges.

The sensual revelations of space and the audible silence work together to render this silence: "palpable"

The artistic process of Espaces Sonores takes a radical turn at this juncture, fed by this ambiguous, paradoxical SILENCE which remains, quite simply and always, extraordinary!

IPOS was sketched out in June 2013 at LIEU COMMUN - Space for Contemporary Art -Toulouse .

This installation was created on the 19/04/2014 as part of the ZAT of Malbosc - Montpellier
